Sebastian Ganske (33), son of publisher Thomas Ganske, starts his work for the publishing group after finishing his studies, an apprenticeship as management assistant in publishing and a lengthy stay abroad. As managing director he founds
4 SEASONS DIGITAL.NET, a subsidiary company of the JAHRESZEITEN VERLAG, where the online activities of the publishing house are consolidated. Furthermore he is in charge of the SCHNEEMENSCHEN GmbH and reports to Frank-H. Häger, member of the executive board and head of books and magazines.
 
Dr. Elisabeth Niggemann, general director of the German National Library is awared the Julius-Campe-Preis der Kritik (Julius Campe Review Award) of the HOFFMANN UND CAMPE VERLAG at the Frankfurt Book Fair. The publishing house launches its iPhone app that includes book extracts and audio sample as well as an ordering service.

The GRÄFE UND UNZER VERLAG opens a redesigned online shop for its brand GU at www.gu-shop.de.

In February the magazine PETRA is released with a revised layout and a new threepart magazine structure. Also, the cover concept is remade: Nina Maurischat (35) assumes the editorship of the monthly women periodical with the biggest circulation in Germany from Ulrike Fischer.

In April the big VITAL 40 Year Anniversary-Issueis published as an attractive package with 40 extra pages as a flip edition. The magazine is sold together with an additional 36-page fitness guide and comes in a high-qualitity recyclable bag. The anniversary issue is accompanied by a new widespread advertising campaign that spans TV, print and stores.

COUNTRY the premium magazine for the rural way of life celebrates its 10th birthday with  year-long activities and a big sweepstake.

For the issue 24/09 FÜR SIE shows its new face: a new layout and a changed picture language. Furthermore the core competences Fashion and Beauty is strengthened and the food section is strongly extended.

With a "Heft zum Jubeln" ("jubilation magazine") and 20 events in every PRINZ city PRINZ celebrates its 20th anniversary together with readers, partners and customers. Big parties as well as exclusive cultural events in theatres und museums of each city are organised. Published in July, the PRINZ TOP GUIDE KINDER for Hamburg an Munich is the newest addition to the PRINZ TOP GUIDE familiy. Peter Schmidt-Feneberg (44)takes over editorship of the urban lifestyle magazine from Nicole Zepter.

The JAHRESZEITEN VERLAG creates the division "New Business Fields" to pool activities in different markets that haven't been organised in an independent organisational unit yet. This includes the strategy and development of new profit models and added-value services just as licences for the brands of the magazine portfolio as well as content cooperations with third parties. Dr. Michael Silvio Kusche (33) is in charge in addition to his tasks as the publication manager of PETRA.

HOFFMANN UND CAMPE Corporate Publishing produces the programme for the premiere of the "Schloss Bensberg Classics". The exclusive classic car meeting takes place for the first time. The experts for corporate communications also develop the newsletters Unicus and Intro for the Hamburger Sparkasse targeting the customer groups adolescents, pupils, students and apprentices.

The LESERKREIS DAHEIM based in Hamburg remakes its Internet presence www.leserkreis.de regarding the layout and the content. LESERKREIS DAHEIM is the biggest reader circle in Germany and has 24 branch offices.

On mobil.prinz.de PRINZ offers an extensive location and event guide for mobile phones which includes all major cities in Germany.

iPUBLISH makes travelling easy because of the new MERIAN travel apps for iPhone. They contain comprehensive information for trips to London, Barcelona  and other cities but also a hotel reservation function. The user can request the favoured hotel at the online travel agency HRS and book immediately if rooms are available.

Big success for the company SCHNEEMENSCHEN. The application SkiResortis among the top 50 paid apps in theiTunes AppStore in Germany.

Küchengötter.de run by GRÄFE UND UNZER offers a novel service: the cookbook on demand. Every user can choose from 20.000 recipes and create a personal cookbook that he can design and sumptuously illustrate himself. After one week at the latest the book is sent to the required address by post.

Andreas Westhoff (40) becomes managing director of iPUBLISH Ganske Interactive Publishing based in Munich. The company is restructured and expands its business with digital information for travelling and entertainment.

The distribution experts PSG PREMIUM SALES GERMANY are able two acquire two new magazines as customers. Starting from 2010 PREMIUM SALES GERMANY takes over the distribution of the high-circulation golf magazine GOLFTIME. AZUR, the cruise magazine that presents dream destinations by celebrities, is also an new part of the PREMIUM SALES distribution portfolio.

The Arbeitskreis Mittelständischer Verlage (AMV) awards the AMV Sales Award Sally to Gabriele Fisher, publisher and editor in charge of the business magazine "brand eins" during a ceremonial reception in the Literaturhaus Hamburg. Furthermore, the AMV celebrates 10 years of existence. Initiator Hermann Schmidt (managing director of the JAHRESZEITEN VERLAG) illustrates the targets and successes of the working party for medium-sized publishing houses.
